Project Details
Location: Herbert Park, Dublin
Project: Temporary Access and Pedestrian Walkway
Product: TerraTrak Plus
Ground Protection Requirements
The operators of The Big Grill, Europe’s Largest BBQ festival, required a temporary access system that could safely support heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic before, during and after the three-day event in Herbert Park.
The system also needed to have a significant load-bearing capacity to ensure minimal impact on the large swathes of grass it would be covering. Ground Protection Ireland was commissioned to supply, deliver and install the appropriate solution.
The Solution
Having assessed the site and considered the expected traffic, our project manager designed a solution with TerraTrak plus. The HDPE plastic TerraTrak plus has long been the go-to access system for major event organisers across the globe – and with good reason. It is the ultimate single-product solution.
Its unique interlocking system creates an unbroken surface that is equally effective as a construction area or event flooring. TerraTrak plus allows for up to 150 tonnes of heavy vehicle traffic during the load-in and load-out process and transitions seamlessly into a slip-resistant pedestrian walkway.
The TerraTrak’s smooth underside also gives exceptional protection to natural and synthetic landscaped turf.
The Result
Our crew arrived on-site at 6 am and installed an access route and set-down pads that allowed site traffic to drive directly into the park without disrupting the surrounding residential area or the underlying surface. Following the festival, we completed the scheduled recovery of the TerraTrak plus system.
